Got a call from the one of the young women in our ward asking if I could help with a “art” project they needed to prepare for camp. The girls had an idea to do a photo shoot centered around “finding your own holy place” which is their camp theme. They wanted to meet over at Daybreak so we could get some shots by the water and by the temple. I was so impressed that the girls had come up with this idea and that they were the brains and the spirit behind the idea.
As I tried to prepare some ideas for this shoot I started thinking about places that bring me peace, places that provide that sanctuary, places that speak to my energy, my soul, and help me to feel safe and renewed. Those amazing mountains in Wyoming that own my heart came to mind first, the country fields behind my parents house, pedaling up Butterfield Canyon on a fall day, sitting behind a piano, Grandma Lee’s dinner table, Nora’s kitchen, snuggled up with my cute boys… Ladies, I might steal your idea and create my own photo journal of “sacred spaces.”
These girls seemed so at ease with each other and seemed to really enjoy being together, I hope that they see the safety and peace that their friendship and testimonies provide for each other and the sacred space that, that can provide for them because I saw it while editing these photos.
